The annual Rock-a-Thon was held Jan. 12 at Eyer Middle School where students rock for 12 hours at the school and raise money for the Justin W. Jennings Foundation.
This year’s amount, once again, set a record – $25,469.01 was given to the foundation which helps operate a house in Bethany Beach, Del. for families who face stress and hardship when dealing with cancer. The Jennings Foundation has provided a place for family fun and relaxation for several families in the Lehigh Valley.
Funds were raised by students with 84 students raising over $100 each. The top earners were Devon Helmer with $850, Owen Moyer with $500, Maia Named with $460, Connor Brophy with $437 and Arch Malik with $431.
Area businesses also assisted in making this event a success.
DJ Frederick provided the music, 29 Cooks Catering Co. held several cooking classes, Christmas City Studios provided a photo booth and gave photos to the students, Paint on Main provided painting lessons, Kim O’ Sullivan of West End Yoga had the kids bending over backwards during the yoga session, Zumba instructor Kim Hager got the kids moving and Leading Edge Martial Arts ran a self-defense and anti-bullying session. Victory Auto Glass, Bear Creek Mountain Resort, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Patrick Finn all donated prizes for the top earners.
Parent volunteers assisted before, during and after the event.
