At their meeting of Dec. 27, 2017, Alburtis Borough Council approved Resolution No. 2017-8 adopting a new comprehensive plan for the borough of Alburtis in the form of the multi-municipal regional plan entitled “Southwestern Lehigh Comprehensive Plan-October 2017.”
In other meeting business, council adopted Ordinance No. 541 establishing a tax credit for qualified volunteer firefighters from the borough’s earned income tax in an amount each year equal to the lesser of the individual’s earned income tax liability or $500. This ordinance establishes a volunteer service credit program to set the annual requirements for the certification of a volunteer in active service at a volunteer fire company in order to qualify for the credit and establish administrative procedures.
Alburtis Borough Council members adopted Ordinance No. 544 authorizing the borough of Alburtis to enter into and implement the “Southwestern Lehigh County Comprehensive Plan-October 2017.” This is an intergovernmental cooperation agreement with the boroughs of Emmaus and Macungie and the townships of Lower Macungie, Lower Milford and Upper Milford. This agreement includes in detail, specified purposes, powers, authorities, a committee, implementation roles and responsibilities, annual reports, amendments, plan reviews, dispute resolutions, effective dates and termination.
