Winter events begin
Preparation for showcases and performances in the remainder of the school year have officially begun at the Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts. Students and faculty in each department work diligently toward all that is in store in the new year.
The Music Department hosted Jazz Cafe Jan. 6 in the Charter Arts theater.
Beginning Jan. 19 at 7 p.m., the Charter Arts TheateR Department will present its production of “Lovers: Winners and Losers” The performance is inclusive of selected theater majors of all grades who have dedicated many months to auditioning and rehearsing. Additional performances will take place Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. and Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Charter Arts theater. Purchasing tickets in advance is suggested and can be done on the Charter Arts website.
On Jan. 26, and 27, the Dance Department will host Dance Soup in the Charter Arts theater at 7 p.m. The performance includes of selected pieces choreographed and danced by students of all grades. Purchasing tickets in advance is suggested and can be done on the Charter Arts website.
The instrumental music department will be presenting its Wanda and DeLong Honors Piano Recital Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. The performance will take place in the Corpora Art Gallery, located inside the school, and includes selected piano students from Charter Arts. Purchasing tickets in advance is suggested and can be done on the Charter Arts website.
The First Friday Art Reception: Celebrating 15 Years will be hosted in the Corpora Art Gallery Feb. 2, from 6-9 pm. This is a free event hosted by the Visual Art department. The public is greatly welcomed and may enter from 3rd Street.
On Feb. 9, the Literary Arts department will be hosting a showcase of original poetry, songs, and scripts by students. The event is free and will take place at Cafe the Lodge in Bethlehem from 6-8 pm.
On Feb. 27, the Black History Show will be presented in the Charter Arts theater. This event was originally created by students who collaborated to celebrate the art of many African Americans throughout history. The performance will include song, dance, music, and poetry written inspired by influential African Americans. The event will take place from 7-9 pm and tickets can be purchased upon arrival.
