U.S. Army retired Brig. Gen. Anna Mae V. Hays, 97, died Jan. 7, 2018, in Knollwood Retirement Facility, Washington, D.C.

She was the wife of the late William A. Hays.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Daniel J. II. and Matie (Humphrey) McCabe.

A graduate of Allentown School of Nursing, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Columbia University and Master of Science degree in nursing from Catholic University of Washington, D.C.

Her survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother and sister.

Her services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 at Trexler Funeral Home Inc., 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown. A calling hour will begin 10 a.m.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
