SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Robert Martucci Jr. was elected president, Debra Brinton was elected vice president and James Seagreaves was elected president pro tempore of the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners at the reorganization meeting Jan. 2.

The board is required to hold its reorganization meeting during the first week of the year. Commissioners next meet 7 p.m. Jan. 11 and 7 p.m. Jan. 25 in the township municipal building, 2900 South Pike Ave.

Martucci, previously board of commissioners vice president, was elected by a vote of 3-2 after being nominated for president by Seagreaves, garnering one more vote for president than Brinton, who was nominated by Commissioner Joanne Ackerman.

Brinton was elected by a vote of 4-1 after being nominated for vice president by Ackerman, garnering three more votes for vice president than Seagreaves, who was nominated by Martucci.

Seagreaves was elected by a vote of 5-0 after being nominated for president pro tempore by Ackerman, to chair commissioners’ meetings in the absence of the president and vice president.

Newly-elected Rodney Conn was sworn in for a four-year term as Ward 4 commissioner, succeeding James A. Brown, who didn’t seek re-election, by District Judge Michael J. Pochron.

Re-elected Seagreaves was sworn-in for a four-year term as Ward 2 commissioner by Pochron.

Re-elected Salisbury Township Treasurer Linda J. Minger was absent and was not sworn in at the meeting.

Following election of officers, commissioners voted 5-0 in separate votes to approve the resolutions for reappointments for two-year terms for 2018 and 2019 of:

•Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich as township secretary

•Shemaine Wilson as assistant township secretary

•Minger as township treasurer

•Bonaskiewich as assistant township treasurer

•Atty. John W. Ashley of Davison & McCarthy as township solicitor

•David J. Tettemmer of Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc., as township engineer

•Hanover Engineering Associates as alternate township engineer

•Scott Bieber of Lehigh Soils and Wetlands as township sewage enforcement officer, and Charyn Ayoub of Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, Gregory C. Gray, Christopher A. Taylor and Jacob A. Schray of Hanover Engineering Associates as township sewage enforcement officer alternates

•CodeMaster Inspection Services, Inc. as township building code official

•Township Director of Planning and Zoning Cynthia Sopka as township flood-plain administrator

Commissioners voted 5-0 in separate votes to appoint:

•Planning Commission, First Ward (four-year term), Richard Hassick re-appointed, nominated by Martucci

•Planning Commission, Third Ward (unexpired term ending Jan. 1, 2020), Mark Kijak, nominated by Brinton

•Planning Commission, Third Ward (alternate), Jessica Klocek, nominated by Brinton

•Planning Commission, Fourth Ward, Glenn Miller, re-appointed, nominated by Conn

•Zoning Hearing Board, Fourth Ward (five-year term), Joseph Kovatch, formerly alternate, nominated by Martucci

•Zoning Hearing Board, Fifth Ward (unexpired term ending Jan. 1, 2019, of James Kelley, chairman, who died Nov. 20, 2017), Atty. Kent H. Herman, nominated by Ackerman

•Civil Service Commission (one member, six-year term), Samuel Darrohn, reappointed, nominated by Martucci

•Vacancy Board (one member, one-year term), Dan Moyer, nominated by Ackerman

•Environmental Advisory Council, Fourth Ward (three-year term), Conn to nominate a person to be named

•Environmental Advisory Council, Fifth Ward, Ed Olearczyk Jr., nominated by Ackerman. Conn will succeed Ackerman as the commissioners’ EAC representative

•Building Code Board of Appeals, Third Ward (five-year term), Chet DiRomualdo, nominated by Brinton

Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve a surety bond for 2018-2021 for the township tax collector of $13,580,000.
