NASD board appoints members to committees

Committee appointments for 2018 have been made by Northampton Area School District Board of Education.

School directors voted 9-0 at the Dec. 4, 2017, reorganization meeting for the following committee appointments:

Act 93: Dr. Michael Baird, David Gogel

Contract negotiations: Chuck Frantz, Roy Maranki, Ross Makary

Employee benefit trust: Baird

Expulsion: John Becker, Frantz, Gogel, Robert Mentzell

Facilities: Becker, Frantz, Chuck Longacre, James Chuss

K-Kids Foundation: Makary

Meet and discuss: Mentzell, Becker

NASD community council liaison: Chuss, Mentzell, Maranki, Frantz

PSBA liaison: Baird, Longacre (alternate)

Policy: Becker, Maranki, Mentzell

Public library liaison: Mentzell

Safe school: Chuss, Frantz, Maranki, Makary

Technology: Chuss, Longacre

Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School joint committee three-year term: Longacre (through 2020), Gogel (now serving through 2019)

In other business at the meeting, school directors voted 9-0 to approve:

Kimberly Bayer, long-term substitute mathematics teacher at Northampton Area Middle School, effective Jan. 19, 2018, for the second semester of the 2017-18 school year, at $263.51 per diem, with benefits, effective Dec. 5, 2017

Erin Kessler, special education instructional assistant at Moore Elementary School, effective retroactive to Dec. 4, 2017, at $12.07 per hour, with benefits

Cari-Ann Rossetti, special education instructional assistant at Moore, effective retroactive to Sept. 25, 2017, at $12.07 per hour, with benefits

Amanda Twombly, a paid childbearing leave of absence, March 26-May 4, and an unpaid FMLA child rearing leave, May 7-18, 2018, with insurance

Katherine Carney, an unpaid childbearing-childrearing leave of absence, Jan. 19-Jan. 18, 2019, without insurance

2017-18 community education program spring classes and roster of instructors with stipends

Voluntary transfer of Alyssa Silfies from middle-shift custodian to third-shift custodian at NAMS, effective Dec. 5, 2017, with no change in base salary

Voluntary transfer of Ronald Matika from Tuesday through Saturday custodian at Siegfried Elementary School to middle-shift custodian at NAMS, effective Jan. 3, with no change in base salary

Addition to the athletic event staff for the 2017-18 school year: Rebecca Hoernle, security and usher

Ryan Mertz, Denise Reszek and approximately 65 students to attend and compete in a performance in Williamsburg, Va., and Washington, D.C., April 11-14, at a cost to the district, of $1,208.98, covered through the board-approved curriculum budget

List of obsolete equipment and components by sale to TechnologyExchange for $973

A three-year extension for trash removal/recycling services to Chrin Hauling Inc., at $4,220.75 per month, July 1-June 30, 2021

Liberty Mutual as the tax collector bond insurer through Willis of Pennsylvania Inc., Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2021, at $6,675.75 per year

Terry A. Leh as the primary TCC voting delegate and Matthew Sawarynski as the alternate TCC voting delegate for NASD during the 2018 calendar year

The following fund balance amounts and classifications: $302,664 for inventory and $135,177 for prepaid expenses as nonspendable fund balance reserves

$1,145.97 donation to NASD from Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation to purchase additional Wi-Fi connections to support the Project Pride Chromebook initiative
