A free informational session on adoption and child foster care will be held 6 p.m. at Diakon Adoption & Foster Care, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, One S. Home Ave., Topton. Diakon Adoption & Foster Care staff will explain foster parenting as well as the processes involved in adopting a child. Attendees also will learn about children available for adoption as well as the foster-to-adopt program.

Presentation “Lehigh Valley: Why Gerrymandering is Bad, And How to Fix It” 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall, 3231 Tilghman St., Allentown. Carol Kuniholm, co-founder and chair of Fair Districts PA, will discuss how gerymandering is bad for government, bad for business and bad for the Lehigh Valley. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lehigh County, the Justice and Advocacy Committee of the Lehigh Conference of Churches and Fair Districts PA. The Governor Wolf Historical Society will hold its January Tavern Night 6:30 to 10 p.m. on The Governor Wolf Historic Campus, 6600 Jacksonville Road, Bath. “The Midnight Shift,” a band from Reading, will play 50s and 60s music and rock-a-billy in The Academy. Steve Myers will play keyboard in the Ralston McKeen House, with Debbie Evans singing everything from standards to oldies to popular tunes from today. There will be tastings by a local brewery or winery and an exhibit of works by a local artist. BYOB! There is a donation. You must be 21.

The public is invited to attend a forum with the Democratic candidates for Congress in PA’s 15th district, 7 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown. Antique appraisal fair at the Quakertown Farmers Market, 201 Station Road, noon to 2 p.m. in Dept. #201. Members from the Pennsylvania Antiques Appraisal Association will appraise items and share interesting historical facts and stories. Red Cross blood drive 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Quakertown Farmers Market, 201 Station Road. The bloodmobile will be parked outside Entrance #18 near the garden center.
