The first meeting of the Upper Milford Historical Society for 2018 will be 7 p.m. Jan. 25, in the Upper Milford Township building. It will be the society’s traditional discovery night, when members and guests are invited to bring in pictures, stories, items, etc. of historical interest to share.

New, however, are the changes made to the society’s room, aiming to showcase local people and historical materials more comfortably. Attendees will want to check out the room.

St. Peter’s Union Church is having a soup sale 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 27. It will be takeout only, sold by the quart or the pint and quantities will be limited.

Feb. 4 will be the NFL Super Bowl. That same day, St. Peter’s is joining churches nationwide in observing the Souper Bowl of Caring, to raise money to help people worrying about staying warm, finding shelter and a warm meal. Drop money into the soup bowl as you leave worship service that Sunday.

The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month. New members are always welcome.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Citizens Fire Company of Vera Cruz will meet 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Vera Cruz Fire Department Social Hall.

Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. Jan. 4 and 18 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.

Lower Milford Township supervisors will hold its meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18. If needed, a workshop meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Jan. 4.

Other Lower Milford meetings are as follows; unless otherwise noted, they will begin 7:30 p.m.: the planning commission will meet Feb. 5; recreation and open space board, Jan. 10; historical commission meets Jan. 9 if needed. Check with the township office to find out if they will meet this month.

Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 18. They held their reorganization meeting Jan. 2, so will not meet the first Thursday this month.

The planning commission usually meets 7:30 p.m. the first Monday before the first Thursday of every month. They will also hold a workshop meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 9.

The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15. The joint environmental advisory council meets 7 p.m. Jan. 22 in Upper Milford.

The open space committee meets 7 p.m. Jan. 10. The emergency services committee meets 7 p.m. Jan. 17.
