Cura, Phoebe Terrace have a sweet time with pie baking contest

Cura Hospitality, the food contractor for Phoebe Terrace, Allentown, sponsored a pie baking contest at the retirement community Nov. 30.

The pies were baked by residents as well as employees of Cura.

Judges included Molly Driscoll, manager of Phoebe Terrace; Adam Marles, senior vice president, Phoebe Home of Allentown, and Linda Plunkett, administrative assistant.

Eleven pies were presented and after all the tasting was completed Phoebe Terrace resident Sara Heintzelman took third place for her Toll House and pumpkin pie.

Second went to Phoebe Terrace resident Jen Iobst for her peachy cream cheese pie.

Cura team members Kim Wilson with her fresh pear peppermint bark and Bonnie Schwenger with her apple bacon pie tied for first place.

Other pies entries included: luscious lemon; cherry apple; toasted coconut macadamia cream; Toll House; pumpkin and Hess’s strawberry pie.
