Cetronia Ambulance Corps EMT honored by Pa. legislature

Cetronia Ambulance Corps Emergency Medical Technician Michele “Shelly” Lukitsch was recently awarded the 2017 Basic Life Support Practitioner of the Year by the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council.

Each year, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, with the assistance of the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council recognizes individuals, groups, and organizations that have made a significant contribution to Pennsylvania’s EMS System.

Lukitsch received her award during an award luncheon at the 40th Annual Pennsylvania State EMS Conference at DoubleTree by Hilton, Lancaster.

State Rep. Gary Day R-187th, surprised Lukitsch Dec. 19, 2017, at Cetronia Ambulance Corps headquarters in South Whitehall, presenting her with a citation from the Pennsylvania State Legislature commending her achievements.

Lukitsch began her career with Cetronia on June 8, 2006, and, according to Cetronia senior management, during these past 11 years she has continuously gone above and beyond to be a part of many projects and programs at Cetronia.

“Shelly is an exceptional Emergency Medical Technician and continues to play a vital role in Cetronia’s life saving mission here at Cetronia” said Cetronia CEO Larry Wiersch. “This prestigious award is a once in a lifetime achievement and one that demonstrates Shelly’s commitment to the field of Emergency Medical Service, our patients, and our community.”

Lukitsch is an instructor in the emergency medical responder classes and also serves as an EMT instructor.

She is cross-trained as a controller/dispatcher, and is a field training officer.

Lukitsch also is heavily involved as an instructor in the monthly car seat safety program at Cetronia, is certified as a car seat safety technician, and is an active member of Cetronia’s Strike Team.
