Joseph S. Schlager Jr., 74, of Northampton, died Dec. 18, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Lynne J. (O’Brien) Schlager for 44 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Joseph S. Sr. and Theresa (Gessitz) Schlager.
He was a 1961 graduate of Coplay High School.
He was in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam era.
He was a salesman for Bethlehem Ford for over 20 years until he retired in 2005. Previously, he was a salesman for the former Berman Furniture Company, Allentown.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Northampton.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Tri-Boro Sportsman Club, all of Northampton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tammy L. and her husband Neal Stephens of Plymouth Meeting and Mary C. and her husband LeRoy Troxell Jr. of Northampton; a son, Joseph S. III and his wife Beverly of Lehigh Township; eight grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Schmoyer and her companion Robert Smith Jr., of Northampton; a brother, John and his wife Lora of Mechanicsburg; nieces; and nephews.
