A 3-year-old Breinigsville boy was killed when the vehicle he was riding in and another vehicle collided around 11:27 a.m. Dec. 21 in front of 5480 Kernsville Road, North Whitehall Township.
According to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim, Micah Gianotti was pronounced dead at 12:21 p.m. the same day at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
An autopsy was performed Dec. 22, Grim said.
He said the cause of death is blunt force head injuries due to a motor vehicle accident.
The manner of his death was ruled an accident, Grim said.
According to State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, Gianotti was in a child safety seat in a 2013 Kia Soul driven by Jennifer L. Gerczak, 26, of Breinigsville, when it collided with a 2014 Ford Edge driven by Marianne Kostenbader, 56 of Easton.
Police say Gerczak, who was wearing her seat belt, sustained a suspected serious injury. Kostenbader, who police say was also wearing her seat belt suffered an injury of unknown severity.
Both drivers and Gianotti were transported by Northern Valley Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
