Allentown Public Library kicks off campaign for new HVAC system

Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, had a press conference Dec. 11 to kick off a $2.3 million dollar campaign for a new HVAC system.

Speakers included: Renee Haines, director of the Allentown Public Library; Don Bernhard, executive director of Downtown Allentown Community Development Initiative and Allentown Public Library Board Member; Dr. Ellen Bishop, board member with the Allentown School District and Allentown Public Library; Dr. Thomas Parker, superintendent with the Allentown School District, and Tom Donley, Donley Foundation Trustee and business development manager for Alvin H. Butz, Inc.

Each presenter discussed the importance of the library and the impact it has on the community.

Donley spoke about the value of the library to all members of the community.

Dr. Parker ended his speech with a poignant quote from Henry Ward Beecher, “a library is not a luxury, but one of the necessities of life.”
