Winter arrives: Lehigh Valley’s own Wizards of Winter, featuring former members of The Trans-Siberian Orchestra and other rock powerhouses like Rainbow, Alice Cooper Band, and Ted Nugent Band, return to rock in the holidays with their own brand of Christmas magic, 4 p.m. Dec 17. The 2 1/2-hour concert features new music from the groups’ third album along with progressive-rock favorites from the group’s self-titled 2014 debut album and 2015’s “The Magic of Winter.” Wizards of Winter was formed in 2009 by Scott Kelly as a Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) tribute band. A fly musical: Sing for America presents “Peter Pan,” Dec. 28 - 31 and Jan. 3-7, Mauch Chunk Opera House, 14 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe. The Gilbert Family, based in the Easton area, is once again presenting a show to raise money for Blue Star Mothers of Lehigh Valley’s emergency fund, which helps local military families with bills, travel expenses and other needs. The family’s first production was “Cinderella” in 2011. Since then, Sing for America has raised more than $45,000, which has helped with rent, food, heating and electric bills, plane tickets to see a wounded soldier before surgery, and even Christmas presents for military families. Back to the ‘80s: Jessie’s Girl presents its “Back to the Eighties Show,” 8 p.m. Dec. 29, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Jessie’s Girl performs renditions of 1980s’ hits. The group’s musicians and singers dress up as singers and groups who had many of their first big pop and rock music hits during the 1980s, including Bon Jovi, Cindi Lauper, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince.
