HORNET HAPPENINGS
Emmaus High School will be closed for winter break Dec. 22 through Jan 2, 2018. Happy Holidays!
There will be a Model United Nations meeting after school in Room 538 Dec. 20.
Picture retakes are available in the athletic office. If you had your picture taken on retake day, please stop in the athletic office and pick up your pictures.
Would you like to go to Europe this summer? If you are in a science, math, Latin or culinary arts class, you are eligible for the trip. Stop by Room 232 for information. There are 12 spots left, so hurry.
The game club will not meet for the rest of December. See you in January.
Emmaus High school’s pottery shop, Centered, has some new items in its store. Check out the large mugs, berry bowls and luminaries sold with tea light candles. Hand-painted ceramic ornaments also are available. Every purchase is packaged and ready for gift-giving. Come by the shop beside Room 520 and see what’s new in the showcase. Come inside Room 520 to find an associate to help you.
The EHS Library will run a limited-time only fine forgiveness event for the holidays, which will start Dec. 18 and “wrap up” at the end of the school day Dec. 21. For students who return overdue books directly to the library (not the book drop) during this time period, the library will completely delete the automatically-generated late charges and discount any already existing fine paid directly to the library. The library staff hopes many students will all take advantage of the unprecedented opportunity.
Auditions for the spring musical, “West Side Story,” continue through Dec. 21. Auditions are held 3 to 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Additional information is posted on the drama department website.
On Dec. 21 students who took the PSAT/NMSQT test will have the opportunity to learn more about their online score report, its meaning and interpretation.
This is a reminder only – students with an EHS parking permit may park their vehicles in the student assigned lots during school hours. All other parking spaces are reserved for the administration, faculty, staff or visitors. Students without an EHS parking permit may park on Pine Street or on other permitted borough streets during school hours.
Failure to obey the regulations will result in the withdrawal of parking privileges, ticketing by Emmaus police, towing and/or additional disciplinary actions, as per the EHS Discipline Code and ParkSing Regulations. Also, the EHS administration has been notified by community members who reside in Little Lehigh Acres that students have been parking illegally within the residential area. Students are not permitted to park within the area of Little Lehigh Acres, a subdivision in neighboring Upper Milford Township. Parking in Little Lehigh Acres may result in ticketing by Pennsylvania State Police and/or towing by the township of unauthorized vehicles.
EHS students are invited to join the indoor color guard competition team. Practices are held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the high school cafe. The team is a place to have fun, learn a new activity, express yourself and meet new people. No experience is necessary and all are welcome.
A reminder to EHS students, early dismissal notes need to be on the EHS excuse blank and taken to the main office before first period and students with late arrival notices must bring the notices to the main office right after checking in at the late arrival desk.
