School board members take oath

Magisterial District Judge Rod Beck attended the Dec. 6 meeting of the Northwestern Lehigh School Board to swear in newly elected members Alan Rex, Marci Piescienski and Dr. James Warfel, plus returning members Todd Hernandez and Phillip Toll.

Superintendent Mary Anne Wright thanked every one who ran for the office.

“I appreciate your willingness and look forward to six months of working with you,” she told the new board members.

Their shared work is for only six months as Wright will be leaving the end of June.

Bill Dellicker was returned as board president and Hernandez was named vice president.

As Hernandez moved up to vice president, he was replaced by John Casciano as board secretary.

Meeting dates are 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month with the exception of July which has no meeting and December when the board meets on the first Wednesday for reorganization.

Committee appointments were made. Alan Rex will attend Lehigh Career and Technical Institute joint operating meetings with Joseph Fatzinger as alternate.

Warfel will serve as board representative to the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21.

Piescienski and Todd Leiser will work on the curriculum council.

Two delegates are needed for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association convention but they will be chosen over the summer as the convention is not until October 2018.
