Watershed program being offered

Penn State

Penn State Extension will be offering a Master Watershed Steward program 6-8:30 p.m. March 7 through May 30.

An information session will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Jan. 10, 2018 at Lehigh County Agricultural Center, 4181 Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall Township.

The training sessions will include three Saturday field trips.

To become a Certified Master Watershed Steward, participants will receive 40 hours of training from a wide range of professionals and educators.

Training will include information in stream ecology, groundwater, wetlands, wildlife, forestry, invasive plants and storm water management.

Master Watershed Stewards volunteer in the community to improve the health of streams, rivers and other natural resources.

Volunteer opportunities include participating in stream restorations, projects to improve habitat, sampling water quality and stream assessments, educating adults and children about the environment and more.
