LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A: I am in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is anatomy and physiology. I am interested in learning about the human body and plan on pursuing a degree in the health field. I think it is a unique topic to learn about.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I am a member of National Honor Society. I received Morning Call All Area Softball Honorable Mention as a freshman and sophomore and Morning Call All Area Softball Second Team as a junior, Colonial League Softball Honorable Mention as a junior and Lehigh Valley Live Softball Honorable Mention as a sophomore and junior. I received Colonial League Tennis 1st Doubles Honorable Mention as a junior, Lehigh Valley Live All Area Tennis 1st Doubles Honorable Mention as a junior and Colonial League Tennis 3rd Singles Second Team as a senior. I was the co-Most Valuable Player of the tennis team my senior year

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: Yes, after my senior year I will have played all four years of varsity softball. I played junior varsity basketball my freshman year and I am currently playing varsity basketball my senior year. I played varsity tennis my junior and senior years. I was a captain of the tennis team this year. I am part of the Student Government Association, Student Advisory Council, a school board student representative and a peer mediator. I work at Subway part time. I have been playing travel softball for the past six years and I currently play on the Northern Valley Cyclones 18U Tournament Softball Team.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I would like to attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree in diagnostic medical imaging.

Q: What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A: My biggest challenge to date would have to be balancing school, work, sports and social events. I have had to give up certain things in order to be successful in other areas.

Q: For what would you like to be remembered?

A: The thing I’d like to be remembered for at Salisbury is my athletics. Not only on the field, but off the field. Yes, the awards and scholarships and recognitions are nice, but there is so much more to sports than statistics. I feel that being a teammate to someone is similar to being a sister. Sports has allowed me to become friends with girls I would not have been friends with before. I love to watch other girls who look up to me succeed because I feel I have been a part in their success. I would like to be remembered for my ability to make everyone feel like a part of the team, whether they are going to play in college or if they had just started this year. I hope I have had an impact on the sports teams I had the opportunity to play on throughout my four years in high school.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My parents are Mary and Charles Bishop. I am the youngest of three kids, myself, my 21-year-old brother Chris and my 27-year-old brother Charles Junior (CJ). We also have a 7-year-old dog named Cuddles.

Q: Whom do you admire? Why?

A: I admire both of my parents, but for different reasons. I admire my mom because of her social characteristics and her ability to be sympathetic toward anyone. I admire my dad because he always tells me I can do anything if I set my mind to do it and he’s my biggest supporter in whatever I do, especially sports.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My advice for my peers is to live in the moment. As a senior, I feel I was concerned with my future too much in my previous years in high school and middle school. This made me miss out on some memorable moments. I have learned to cherish every moment and every person who is in my life.
