Whitehall-Coplay School District’s music department has scheduled holiday concerts.

Zephyr, 7 p.m. Dec. 13, in the auditorium of the high school, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. In case of bad weather, students will perform Dec. 18.

High school, 7 p.m. Dec. 19, at the school. In case of bad weather, students will perform Dec. 20.

Looking ahead at the upcoming winter break, schools will be closed Dec. 22-Jan. 1, 2018. Schools will reopen Jan. 2, 2018.

Parents/guardians are reminded a written note must be given to your child’s teacher within three days upon returning to school after an absence. The best method is to write a note promptly on the day of return.

Remember to include the date, child’s name, teacher’s name, a specific reason for the absence and parent/guardian’s signature. If no excuse note is received within this three-day period, it is an illegal absence.

When there are three or more illegal days without notes, parents/guardians will be required to appear before the Whitehall magisterial district judge on truancy charges. This is a school district policy.

Elementary and middle school students need to remember to wear socks and sneakers on gym class days. It’s important that they wear proper footwear to ensure they can fully participate in gym class. It is also a safety issue during activities and outdoor recess.
