Jacob Rockovits, of Catasauqua, recently completed the physician assistant (PA) master’s degree program at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre. As part of the college’s 41st graduating PA class, he received his degree at a recent commencement ceremony.

Physician assistants are health care providers who have gone through vigorous training in order to work in the health care field; they can practice in virtually all medical fields, some including surgery, pediatrics and family practice. In order to become certified and licensed, a PA must take a test developed by the National Commission on Certification of PAs (NCCPA) once the graduate program is completed. Physician assistants can perform a variety of tasks within the health care realm - assisting in surgery, interpreting lab test results, diagnosing illnesses, performing physical exams, prescribing medicines and more.
