LCCC:

To support families arriving from Puerto Rico and coordinate services, Lehigh Carbon Community College hosts “Support for Families from Puerto Rico,” 5 - 7 p.m. Dec. 14, LCCC Donley Center, 718 W. Hamilton St., Allentown.

LCCC and community partners will provide resources and referrals for families from Puerto Rico who plan to live in or who have relocated to Lehigh County as a result of the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Maria.

Information will be available for families, as well as educators, health care workers, and nonprofit agency officials, in order to refer Puerto Rican families who are relocating.

LCCC faculty and staff will be available to address how to transfer to and enroll in the college. Representatives from the English as a Second Language, GED high school equivalency programs, and short-term job training, will be on hand to answer questions.

Community partners from social service agencies, hospitals and other nonprofits will provide resources on accessing health care services for children, and transportation, food, and shelter.

The event is free and open to the public. Spanish-speaking persons will be available.
