The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, will hold its ninth annual Holiday Book Sale and Reception in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Room of the library. Held in cooperation with the Emmaus Main Street Partners holiday celebration, the sale will feature pre-enjoyed books for all interests and ages in gift-worthy condition at budget-pleasing prices. An Emmaus High School music ensemble will play seasonal music. Shoppers can sample wine, cheese and punch. The Friends will present a ceremonial check in the amount of $30,524 to the library, representing the organization’s annual contribution of $17,000, the funds raised by the spring used book sale,and other program support. The book sale and reception will be held 6 to 8 p.m.

Governor Wolf Historical Society 37th annual Christmas House Tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning at the society’s historic site, 6600 Jacksonville Road, Bath. This free, family friendly event is sure to please shoppers looking for a one-of-a-kind holiday gift for someone special. An opening reception will take place 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1, with holiday carolers, cookies and cocoa. The show will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 3. There will also be family fun outside with Wildlands Conservancy. Both Saturday and Sunday 1 to 3 p.m., sit around the camp fire, enjoy cocoa and s’mores and watch animal presentations by Wildlands Conservancy staff. Parents can drop the kids to be entertained with the animals, while they shop. Observe and record the native birds as part of the winter ‘Project Feeder Watch’ program running 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Wildlands both days.

In honor of Jane Austen’s 200th birthday, the Lower Macungie Library will host a panel discussion of Lehigh University faculty and students on Austen’s lasting influence 6 to 7:30 p.m. Join in the discussion where we will talk about why the public just can’t get enough of all things Jane, including of course Mr. Darcy and why Austen is so relevant today. Old Zionsville UCC, Kings Highway and Fountain Road, Old Zionsville will host its annual cookie walk 8 a.m. to noon. Buy all of your favorite homemade holiday cookies and candies by the pound. The League of Women Voters of Lehigh County presents “Eliminating Income Disparity” at the December Hot Topics Luncheon. Toni Hoffman and Susan McNamara, past public policy chairs, American Association of University Women, will present ways we can close the gender wage gap here in the Lehigh Valley. The Upper Milford Western District Fire Company will hold its annual Breakfast with Santa 8 to 11 a.m. at the fire department, 6341 Chestnut St., Zionsville. There will be crafts, a coloring contest, face painting, photos with Santa and a Secret Santa Workshop where kids can shop alone for their family. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, coffee and tea. Ages infant to four are free.
