Claussville Road plan approved

The Peter and Rachel Malkowics preliminary land development plan for 8958 Claussville Road was the only item on the Weisenberg supervisors agenda for their October meeting.

The plan was discussed by the board and some waivers were requested.

William Beitler, surveyor, and Peter Malkowics were present to answer any questions that would come up.

After some discussion, the board approved the plan.

Administrator Brian Carl reported the noise abatement problem on West Hills Court has been addressed.

Waste management has also stated it will try to keep noise at a minimum at its lot.

The Bachelor Road ball fields are not finished but they should be done before winter.

Carl has received some quotes on fencing and expects a few more.

He requested that the chain link fence be extended at the baseball field to protect bystanders.

The board agreed to this request and Carl will make the necessary arrangements.

The developers of the Katem Court subdivision requested a reduction in their letter of credit.

They were granted a reduction of $226,156.19.

West Hills Court escrow on Phase 1 was also reduced. A reduction of $112,852.73 was requested.

The 18-month maintenance period will start on West Hills Court, Phase 2 and has started on Katem Court.

Both requests were granted.

Jerry Rusinko complained about truck traffic and noted the restriction sign is at a poor location at the intersection of Route 863 and Schantz Road.

Bob Eldritsch also noted the same situation of the sign at the intersection of Route 100 and Claussville Road.

The Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Company has answered 143 calls as of the October meeting.

Tony Werley gave the road report to the board, stating the crew has been working on cleaning gutters, spot paving and working on the dirt roads.

They have also done some paving at the ball fields.

Engineer Chris Noll noted that a traffic study might be necessary before the proposed crosswalk can be installed.

The crosswalk will be at the Bachelor Road recreation area and will cross Route 863 to the Weisenberg Elementary School.

Supervisor Linda Gorgas was concerned about the speeding on Bachelor Road.

There is one car in particular that is of interest.

State police have been contacted and they will be looking into the matter.
