LCCC students tested on their alcohol IQ

Members of the Lehigh Valley DUI/Highway Safety Task Force and community are participating in the Thanksgiving Click It or Ticket Operation Safe Holiday enforcement effort through Dec. 3.

As part of this effort, law enforcement members, Lehigh Valley Hospital Network representatives, and PennDOT safety experts of the task force handed out educational information Nov. 16 about seat belt use and aggressive and impaired driving to students at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville.

They also tested the students’ alcohol IQ.

The days surrounding Thanksgiving are traditionally among the busiest travel days of the year and students were encouraged to follow safe driving practices as they head home, and during their holiday break.

The program’s goal was to remind students of the danger of driving while under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.

Using a variety of tools, the students were shown the dangers and realities of being incapacitated.

Even the LCCC mascot, Clawrence the Cougar, showed up wearing a Red Solo Cup, used by many students at parties where alcohol is available.
