STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject this year is AP Psychology because it is challenging and unique compared to my other classes. I think that the subject matter is intriguing and I often find myself looking further into the topics that we learn about in class. In addition, my teacher Mrs. Walsh knows a lot about psychology and always makes class interesting.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Throughout my high school career I have consistently achieved Principal’s Honor Roll. I am a member of Spanish National Honor Society and National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I have been on the Emmaus girls soccer team for all four years of high school. I am involved in Key Club and Pediatric Cancer Club and during my junior year I was a Hornet Ambassador and a homeroom representative. Additionally, I am the vice president of National Honor Society.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school I plan to attend Penn State University and study kinesiology to eventually become a physical therapist. Also, I plan on participating in the Reserve Officer Training Corps, or ROTC, to become an officer in the Army.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I think my biggest challenge so far was recovering from my ACL tear. I needed two surgeries and months of recovery to fully recover from my injury. Tearing my ACL was a major hitch in my plan for high school, but I would not be the person I am today without dealing with this misfortune. While recovering from my surgeries I learned how to persevere through setbacks, grew closer to my friends and family and discovered that I want to be a physical therapist to help other people recuperate from similar injuries.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as a person who is dedicated to achieving their goals and passionate about their interests. Also, I would like to be remembered as a supportive friend, family member and teammate.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My father’s name is Tim Malone and my mother’s name is Cindy Malone. I have two pugs named Clover and Shamrock.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire many people in my life as I have been lucky enough to have many positive role models, but one person that I have always admired is my older cousin, Michael. Ever since I was young, Michael has inspired me through example to learn and step out of my comfort zone for my own benefit. Whenever we’re together we have the best conversations that inspire me to be the best person that I can be.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice for my peers would be to set goals for themselves and do everything they can to achieve those goals. Setting long-term and short-term goals for myself allows me to put things into perspective. Achieving these goals is rewarding and gives me motivation to keep working.
