No increase in taxes in Lynn Twp

Lynn Township supervisors authorized the publication of the budget for next year. No tax increase is anticipated.

The board noted the Emergency Management team has a vacancy with the resignation of Kevin Baer.

The assistant coordinator will assume the responsibilities of the position.

A new deputy coordinator is needed.

Chief Clark Mantz reported Lynnport Fire Company had one call in October.

He also noted the turkey raffle will be held Nov. 17 at the fire company.

Deputy Chief Gary Kuntz Jr. stated the New Tripoli Fire Company had 159 calls to date.

Lt. Kyle Watson has completed his Pump Operations I class and is currently attending Fire Pumps II class at Slatedale Fire Company.

Four of the members are attending Fire Service Instructor I classes at Alburtis fire department and five junior firefighters will be taking Firefighter MOD I classes starting Dec. 12 at Mack South.

Adam Dietrich has completed his firefighter first class certification.

The fire company will purchase a battery operated hydraulic rescue tool with grant money received from the state.

Fire company volunteers participated on trick-or-treat night by giving out free candy and hot dogs.

More than 500 hot dogs were handed out.

An update on the building construction will be given at the December meeting.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber gave his report on the work done by the road crew.

Pot holes on the dirt roads were filled, cold patch repairs were made on other roads, signs were replaced and the speed limit signs were installed.

Boom mowing will be continued through November along with tree trimming.

The pavilion at the Ontelaunee Park will be replaced by a new 60-foot by 80-foot structure.

Three proposals were received for the construction, so the board would have some idea as to the cost.

The project will be put out for bid at a later date.

The location for the new basketball court and a volleyball court was chosen, but no construction will be done this year.

Two properties were added to the Agricultural Security District.

An 83.039-acre tract owned by Frederick and Joyce Najarian, 8928 Herrnhutter Strass Road, will be added along with 3.14 acres owned by Ronald and Christine Storch, at 5497 Golden Key Road.

This small lot can be added since it is adjacent to a tract already in the Agricultural Security District.

The reorganization meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Jan. 2, 2018, with the auditors meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 2018.
