Tents were set up for activities to be held outdoors and promptly blew down making it necessary to move many of the Community Day events at Jacob’s Church indoors.

Several people commented on the great smell coming from the grills. Ben Zoghby, last year’s winner, was back for a another try at coming in first with his ribs and chicken thighs with a secret sauce. Cody Madtes from Kempton offered meat balls, bacon and chicken. Earl Muth of Pleasant Corners was forming hamburgers but the great smell was soon coming from his grill also.

Zoghby does not cook at home so when he does it is an experience said his assistant.

Tickets were given to choose the people’s choice award for the tractors and grillers.

Charles and Ada Bennicoff had a homemade wagon driven by a boy doll and pulled by two stuffed horses, but they also had the real thing in the tractor lineup. An old 1950 Country Squire tractor was found in a junk yard 15 years ago.

There is a ledge along the front of the bounce house and that is where kids enjoyed walking, with parents running to get them down.

Tom and John Post were the first to provide musical entertainment. Tom played guitar and did vocals and John played drums. They were to be followed by Paul and Mary Good. Paul played guitar and both sang.
