Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is history because I love learning about past events and how they’ve affected our lives today.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. In journalism, I was nominated for the National Scholastic Press Association News Story of the Year and will find out where I placed later this month. I’ve also received seven awards in the past two years from the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association and the Pennsylvania Press Club in news, feature, sports and column writing. This past year, I received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing over 100 hours of volunteer work in a year, and in my sophomore year I was chosen as my school’s representative to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I’m the editor-in-chief of The Stinger, our school newspaper. I’m also a volunteer at Camelot House for Children, a member of the fitness team, the secretary of Model Congress and a co-treasurer for Interact Club.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I want to study journalism and political science at a college in a major city and eventually become a professional journalist.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I think my biggest challenge has been trying to balance schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Sometimes it’s difficult to find time to finish everything and still get an adequate amount of sleep each night.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I hope I’ll be remembered as a hardworking student and caring friend who always put other people’s needs before her own.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. I live with my dad, Jon, my mother, Kim, my brother, Jason and our cat, Petra.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my parents and grandparents because they have always worked hard to ensure I could pursue any opportunity that came my way. I know that without their constant support and encouragement, nothing I’ve accomplished would be possible.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. While grades are important, you shouldn’t focus all of your energy on doing schoolwork or adding lines to a resume. Always make time for the activities and people you love because it’ll make you happier in the end.
