There is a lot going on at Emmaus High School.

EHS is just one of three schools in the East Penn School District welcoming senior citizens to the annual Thanksgiving Luncheon Nov. 14. This is always an enjoyable time for the staff, students and senior citizens.

For high school seniors and their families, all graduation stationery orders are due in the activities office Nov. 8.

The EHS counseling department and East Stroudsburg University will hold an Instant Decision Day at the school Nov. 15. To sign up, students need to submit an application and ESU will waive the application fee after Instant Decision Day. See Mrs. Tisi in the counseling office before Nov. 9 to register.

Students must provide proof of a completed application, i.e., the email confirmation received or screenshot of the submitted page to register for this opportunity.

The Emerging Health Professionals Program provides high school seniors with an opportunity to experience a variety of health care careers in a hospital setting and take Penn State University science course for college credit. Students spend three days a week rotating among various departments of a hospital. Students will experience these departments throughout the three Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network facilities.

Representatives from Lehigh Career and Technical Institute and Penn State University will visit EHS 1 p.m. Dec. 1 to explain the program in detail and supply applications to interested and qualified juniors for the 2018-2019 academic school year. Interested students should stop by the counseling office to sign up for the presentation.

Any student enrolled in Spanish 2 or higher who would like information about the EHS summer trip to Costa Rica in June 2019 should attend an informational meeting after school in Room 335 Nov 8. See Mrs. Murray with any questions.

All clubs are in full swing and meeting regularly. The Mud Club meets 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Come if you would like to make projects with clay and and glaze finish them. All are welcome to play with clay and enjoy snacks at Mud Club.

There will be a Scrub League Basketball organizational meeting in Room 353 after school Nov. 16. All team captains are required to attend. Please come to the meeting with a roster and T-shirt sizes. If you have any questions, contact Jake Maehrer at jmaehrer@eastpennsd.org.

Two teams competed recently in a computer competition among 21 teams from Lehigh and Northampton counties. The team of Bradley Klemick, Millan Patel, Tien Patel and Elijah Wendel completed all 10 problems and took first place. The team of Frankie Hughes, Ethan Knode, Madison Salvatore and Arti Schmidt completed nine problems and finished in third place. Congratulations to all participants.

Congratulations to senior Luke Csordas, who guessed 777, the closest number of candy pieces (without going over) in the library jar to win EHS Library’s Reading Workshop Incentive game for October. He received 781 pieces of Halloween candy and other library freebies for the correct guess. Congratulations Luke.
