Grammes wins seat in Lehigh County District 1

Voters in Lehigh County have chosen Republican Marc Grammes to serve a four-year term as District 1 commissioner.

According to Lehigh County Voter Registration, Grammes garnered an unofficial 6,125 votes to Democrat Bob Elbich’s unofficial 4,523 votes.

With 100 percent of the 32 districts reporting, Grammes took 57.48 percent of the total 10,655 votes cast. Elbich received 42.45 percent of the total.

Grammes, who had served previously as a county commissioner, emailed The Press Wendesday morning following the election.

“I would like to thank the people of this wonderful district for braving the weather and coming out to vote yesterday.

“Many thanks to my wife Liz, our family, and our friends ... both old and new who made this possible.

“I also want to thank my opponent, Bob Elbich, for running a clean and honorable campaign. It was a true lesson in civics.”

District 1 includes Coplay and Slatington boroughs and Whitehall, Lynn, Weisenberg, Heidelberg, Washington, North Whitehall and Lowhill townships.
