Fire Co. provides update

Lynnport Fire Company reported four calls in September and one in October by the Oct. 12 Lynn supervisors meeting

Two of the firefighters have completed firefighter one classes. A turkey raffle fundraiser will be offered Nov. 17.

New Tripoli Fire Company had 132 fire calls so far this year.

A filling and dumpling sale is set just in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

The fire crew had to report to a fire call at 6951 Lentz Road again.

As they have received repeated calls, Fire Chief Peter Christ asked if the township was interested in prosecuting.

A copy of the ordinance was left at the property.

The board, minus Supervisor Steve Feinour, discussed the firefighter relief ordinance again.

They are trying to reach a figure that will satisfy the members.

Chairman Justin Smith noted Lynn is the only township that has two fire companies.

Surrounding townships have only one or none.

Smith said there would be more discussion on the subject.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber told the board a new roof and rain gutters have been installed on the township garage.

The crew hauled scrap, worked on the Ontelaunee Park bridge, mowed shoulders, cleaned intersections, cut shoulders, fixed potholes and trimmed some trees.

Chrin Noll gave his report on the speed study done on a few of the township roads.

The board accepted Noll’s recommendations and ordered the erection of the appropriate signage.

The following roads will be affected: Springhouse Road from Fort Everett to Gun Club (35 mph), Springhouse from Fort Everett to Sawmill (35 mph), Behler Road from Route 143 to Springhouse (40 mph), Sawmill road from Springhouse Road to Ontelaunee Road (40 mph) and Ontelaunee Road from Route 143 to the Leaser Lake parking lot (40 mph).

Speed limit signs will cost about $2,000.

Smith estimated one volleyball court and one basketball court could be installed at the park.

He will meet with Raber to discuss what the township crew can do to construct this area.

Coon Hollow Lawn and Pond Services was given the award to eliminate the vegetation from the pond. Cost of this endeavor will not exceed $1,800.

Secretary Kathy Hermany was authorized to advertise for an outside auditor to audit the township’s books.

The Sanctuary at Haafsville was given the nod to take care of stray animals in the township.

The fee is $700 for the year - $50 per cat and $110 per dog.
