The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley announced Oct. 13 that the 2017 Holiday Hope Chests program is well underway and off to a great start.
Holiday Hope Chests is a national project adopted by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley, in partnership with Enterprise Holdings, UGI and Kids Care Clubs to help less fortunate children living in the Lehigh Valley.
Through this program, individually prepared shoe boxes covered with seasonal wrapping, called Holiday Hope Chests are filled with age/gender appropriate gifts that will be distributed during the holiday season to Lehigh Valley non-profit agencies which exclusively serving children.
Each year in the Lehigh Valley - individuals, families, youth groups, businesses and business partners take part in the Holiday Hope Chests program- creating magical holiday memories for local children.
This simple, easy to complete project needs only a shoe box, some imagination and a generous spirit, to create priceless memories for underprivileged children this holiday season.
This year, 5,800 shoe boxes have been requested from nonprofit agencies in the Lehigh Valley who service children.
So far 3,372 Holiday Hope Chests have been pledged.
There is still a need for pledged boxes.
Drop off times for completed Holiday Hope Chests for are noon - 6 p.m. Nov. 28-30 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at UGI Auditorium only.
