Seipstown Grange donating to several community groups

Seipstown Grange 1657 will disburse $18,000 toward community service by awarding $1,000 checks to 18 organizations and charities 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Weisenberg Township Volunteer Fire Company, 2500 Golden Key Road, Weisenberg Township.

According to Grange Master Brian Wetzel, last fall, after the sale of the grange hall in 2015, Seipstown Grange, now a 102-year-old agriculture and community based organization, resumed its mission of community service by financially reaching out to several area groups.

Grange Lecturer and Program Chairwoman Ann A. Wertman said recipients include Dream Come True, Allentown Rescue Mission, Center for Vision Loss, Salvation Army, Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society, Lynn Heidelberg Historical Society, Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry, Fogelsville Volunteer Fire Company, Community Fire Company of New Tripoli, Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Department, Lynnport and Goodwill (Germansville) fire companies, Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Northern Valley EMS Inc., Rotary Club of Allentown West for the Northwestern Lehigh School District Snack Pack program, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County, Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation and Keystone Military Families, Shoemakersville, to assist with mailing costs to forward packages to active duty troops.

The grange will also continue giving two $1,000 scholarships to Northwestern students pursuing agriculture and environmental sciences careers.
