As we celebrate Thanksgiving, remember to think of those who may not be able to enjoy a bountiful meal. Donate to the Emmaus Food Bank to ensure they have a meal at Thanksgiving and throughout the year. The food bank is housed at the Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus. Monetary donations can be mailed to the church and marked Groceries PLUS. Toiletries and non-perishable foods can be dropped off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Emmaus Lioness Lions Club will host a free scarf shower 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at Triangle Park. The hand-knitted scarves will be hung on the fence and anyone who needs one is welcome to take it without cost. The Lioness club meets 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at the Superior Restaurant.

The Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 E. Main St., will hold a Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, will hold its annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 4. There is a minimal cost for anyone over the age of five.

The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will hold its November meeting 1 p.m. Nov. 27 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. This is the first time the club has held an afternoon meeting. The public is welcome to attend. The program will be a presentation by Kathy Long, a storyteller. Her topic is “Stories from the Heart.” In addition, the club is selling Gertrude Hawk Chocolates for Christmas. This is one of their major fundraisers. Orders can be placed at the Nov. 27 meeting.

Reminder: Emmaus’ trick or treat night will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27. All residents who wish to participate in this activity, should turn on their porch lights to light the way, indicating youngsters are welcome to stop.

Also, reminder: The final showing for the Emmaus Arts Commission’s Student Film Festival is 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Emmaus Theatre.

The Emmaus Garden Club meets 12:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St. Everyone is welcome. The program for Nov. 14 is Deborah Pomroy Moyer demonstrating organic floral design. For information, call 610-392-1405.

The Emmaus Senior Citizens group meets 1 p.m. every Friday at St. Matthew’s E.C. Church, Fifth and Ridge streets. All local senior citizens are welcome. The programs for November are Nov. 3: an auction; Nov. 10: a film; Nov. 17: bingo and other games. There will be no meeting Nov. 24 for club members to celebrate Thanksgiving. The members wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

The Emmaus Historical Society meets 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, Fifth and Chestnut streets. The program will include information about the Schwar Geneology Library which is housed in the museum. Society member Lynette Fink will talk about the history of the Schwar Genealogy Library, describe the type of materials it contains and demonstrate how the library’s resources may be used to learn about your ancestors.

The museum, 218 Main St., is open noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays and by appointment. The museum has many new exhibits this month including historic memorabilia from the eight members of the Emmaus Heritage Alliance. There is also a display of World War II mementos and a wedding gown from the 1940s. Vintage kitchen items on display will bring back memories during the “Heart of the Home” celebration.
