Chatham University
Daniel Longacre, a 2011 graduate of Northampton Area High School, has graduated from the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at Chatham University in Pittsburgh. Longacre is certified by examination by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a medical physician assistant and osteopathic physician assistant. He will be employed by Geisinger Health System as an orthopedic physician assistant in Danville.
Fairleigh Dickinson University
Brooke Sherwin, of Coplay, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham campus, Madison, N.J., has been inducted into FDU’s Phi Zeta Kappa Honor Society for the spring 2017 semester.
Eligibility for membership in the university’s junior honor society is established by completing at least the first 60 credits toward an undergraduate degree. Of these, 44 must have been earned at Fairleigh Dickinson and a CGPA of 3.20 must have been maintained for all of them. All the preceding requirements must have been fulfilled prior to the accumulation of 80 credits toward the undergraduate degree.

Lebanon Valley College
Elliot Miller, of Whitehall, was elected by the Lebanon Valley College student body to serve as representative for the class of 2020 for Student Government during the 2017-18 academic year. Miller, a graduate of Whitehall High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in business administration at The Valley.
Student Government is comprised of 36 full-time students. Twenty-seven upper-class students are elected from the student body each spring for a one-year term beginning in September. This includes four class officers, four class representatives and a commuter representative from each returning class. In addition, nine first-year students are elected in September. Student Government officers are elected each spring from among the 27 upper-class students.
One of Student Government’s major responsibilities is to foster understanding, communication and cooperation among students, faculty and administrators. It serves as the channel for all student recommendations for establishing or changing policy and communicates these recommendations to the appropriate administrative offices or faculty committees.
Student Government also approves the constitutions of all campus organizations, regulates the elections of student government members and class officers, and appoints student government members and other students to campus committees. They also plan activities and major campuswide events including Homecoming and the winter formal.
Lebanon Valley College is a private, coeducational college founded in 1866 and dedicated to the liberal arts. The college offers 41 undergraduate majors plus self-designed majors and a range of minors, concentrations and pre-professional options, as well as graduate degree programs in athletic training, business administration, music education, physical therapy, science in STEM education and speech-language pathology. University of the Sciences
Emily Brand, of Whitehall, a Doctor of Pharmacy student in Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences, received a white coat at a ceremony Sept. 23. The white coat ceremony is an annual rite of passage for students in their first professional year (third year) of USciences’ six-year pharmacy program and symbolizes their dedication to the profession of pharmacy and to the care of others. Brand continues on the path to receiving a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Donning their white coats, the more than 110 student pharmacists recited the Oath of a Pharmacist, a gesture to reinforce their commitment to working with patients compassionately and to enhancing their health and well-being.
