“A Taste of Soup” will be held noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Lower Macungie Township Library, 3450 Brookside Road. Kathee Rhode, library executive director, said there will be three challenges – individual, restaurant and Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners. The winning entry in each challenge will be recognized as “Lower Macungie Library’s Best Soup.”

Local restaurants, caterers and individuals are invited to submit their favorite soup(s) for the competition. There is an entry fee per type of soup (before Sept.30) and a higher fee after Oct. 1. Entrants are to prepare six to eight quarts (two gallons) of soup.

Tickets go on sale at the library Oct. 5. There is a cost for adults and kids 11 and under. Tickets will also be on sale the day of the event.
