Sacred Heart HealthCare System has announced that as of Oct. 10, Sacred Heart Hospital, 421 Chew St., Allentown, will no longer offer labor and delivery services.
Obstetrics services will be “delivered” through a new collaboration with St. Luke’s University Health Network.
Through this collaboration, there is only one change: mothers-to-be can deliver their babies at St. Luke’s Hospital - Allentown Campus, 1736 Hamilton St., Allentown, which is less than two miles from Sacred Heart Hospital.
Sacred Heart will continue to provide patients with prenatal visits during pregnancy, maternal fetal medicine visits and check-up visits after delivery at Sacred Heart OB-GYN Services, Sigal Center for Family Medicine, 450 Chew St., Allentown. In addition, Sacred Heart OB-GYN Services will continue to offer gynecology services for women.
Pregnant patients were to be admitted for delivery at Sacred Heart, Allentown, through midnight Oct. 9. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Oct. 10 (overnight Monday into Tuesday), patients were to be admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital - Allentown Campus.
Sacred Heart Hospital’s team of providers, nurses, and staff have maintained a longstanding commitment to providing obstetrics and gynecology care to the community.
The announcement was made Oct. 2 in a press release from Sacred Heart Hospital.
