Senior Adults Gaining Enrichment, an outreach program of Penn State Lehigh Valley for adults age 55 and older, is offering a lecture - “Unraveling Medicare and Medicaid” - Nov. 3 in room 135 at Penn State Lehigh Valley, 2809 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley.

Anita Yuskauskas, program coordinator for the health policy and administration degree, will share her experience as a former technical director with the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The program begins with coffee at 10:30 a.m., speaker at 11 a.m., and lunch at noon.

The mission of SAGE is to encourage intellectual and cultural enrichment for seniors, 55 and older, by providing a stimulating college-level lecture, workshop and seminar environment through a self-funded, self-directed and member-driven program.

The Allentown Band, under the direction of Conductor Ronald Demkee, will be performing 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at Union Evangelical Lutheran, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville.

Fitness

Steel Fitness Premier, 250 Cetronia Road, Suite 100, Allentown, will have a Fit Fest Open House 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Oct. 14 to promote health and wellness.

The event will allow nonmembers to workout, sample classes and use the extensive facilities including three swimming pools.

With more than 18 one-hour classes to choose from between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. along with 12, 30-minute demo classes, guests can try out everything from Pulse X heart rate training, TRX, Tai Chi, Zumba and more.

There will also be free health screenings including blood pressure, body fat screening and free chair massages.

As part of the open house, Girls on the Run Lehigh Valley will have a run-a-thon to raise funds for program scholarships to assist families in the Lehigh Valley with registration fees.

Girls on the Run Lehigh Valley serves girls in the Lehigh Valley in third through eighth grade with after-school programs in more than 50 local schools.

DMVA

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs wants to help pay tribute to all of the men and women from Pennsylvania who died as a result of the Vietnam War.

For the past two years, the DMVA has partnered with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Washington, D.C., to find a photo of every Pennsylvanian whose name appears on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.

The VVMF is posting the photos on a virtual Wall of Faces to put a face and a story to every name, allowing these Vietnam veterans to be honored by family, friends and others from around the world. They are currently down to finding 65 photos.
