He’s made it:Grammy, Tony and Emmy Award-winning pop superstar Barry Manilow, above, takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6, PPL Center, Allentown,in celebration of his newest album, “This is My Town: Songs of New York,” which went to No. 1 on the United States Pop Album Chart. Manilow will perform his greatest hits like “Copacabana” and “Mandy.” Manilow’s career encompasses performing, composing, arranging and producing. A Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, Manilow has had worldwide record sales exceeding 85 million and is ranked as the top Adult Contemporary chart artist of all time with more thanr 50 Top 40 hits. Opera stars:Soprano Angela Meade, above right, tenor John Mathew Myers, above left, are guest soloists with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Diane Wittry, for “Opera Arias,” opening the ASO’s classical music season, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 3 p.m. Oct. 8, at Miller Symphony Hall. The program includes selections from Verdi’s “La Traviata” and “La Forza Del Destino”; music from Wagner’s “Tannhäuser,” and Tchaikovsky’s opera, “Eugene Onegin”; the love duet, “O Soave Fanciulla” from Puccini’s “La Boheme,” and the dramatic duet from Tchaikovsky’s opera, “Iolanta,” and the aria, “Casta Diva,” from “Norma” by Bellini. The Allentown Symphony Chorus will singing audience favorites like “Va Pensiero - Chorus of Hebrew Slaves” from “Nabucco” by Verdi, and the grand “Triumphal March” from Verdi’s opera “Aida.” “Meet the Artist” with Allentown Symphony Conductor Diane Wittry, soprano Angela Meade, and tenor John Matthew Meyers, noon Oct. 6, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown. The purple one:The Purple Xperience presents a “Tribute to Prince” concert, 8 p.m. Oct. 7, State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton. The Purple Xperience is a five-piece tribute band hailing from Minneapolis, Minn. They have been touring around the country since their inception in 2011, bringing the memories of Prince and The Revolution to audiences of all generations. The Purple Xperience embodies the spirit and sounds of Prince, with front-man Marshall Charloff channeling the vocals and movements from the icon himself.
