St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will have a craft fair and quilt show 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 14.

The event features crafters set up in rooms throughout the church and quilts displayed over the pews in the sanctuary.

Refreshments and homemade baked goods will be available, in addition to a Chinese auction and raffle.

The crafts are great for gifts and provide a chance to do some holiday shopping.

The quilts are not only beautiful to look at but also are available for purchase.

The Keenagers senior group will meet at St. John’s 1 p.m. Oct. 17. New members are welcome.

Schnecksville Grange will have its fall flea market and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 14.

Household items, collectibles, children’s items, and more will be for sale by vendors upstairs and down.

The kitchen will be open for lunch.

Children’s activities, such as face painting and games, will be included.

Pastor Adam Kern, of Vine Church, which meets at the grange hall, welcomes people to services 6 p.m. Sundays.

He also conducts Bible studies at the Schnecksville McDonald’s 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays

The Auxiliary of Northern Valley EMS, NOVA, is taking orders for apple dumplings which will be available for pick up Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.

Save the date! The Allentown Band will present a concert at Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, on 3 p.m. Oct. 29.

The program is designed to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

The concert will feature music by Felix Mendelssohn, Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Johan de Meij and John Philip Sousa.

Soloist will be Stefan Xhori in a J.S. Bach violin concerto. Union Lutheran’s organist, Susan Hartney, will also participate.

Listen for Martin Luther’s stirring hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” swell forth in the Mendelssohn piece.

The concert is free, although donations will be accepted.
