District news: High school play to be held Oct. 6, 7
Northampton Area High School Theatre Company will present “The Importance of Being Earnest” 7 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 in the auditorium of the high school, 1619 Laubach Ave. Enjoy this hilarious comedy by Oscar Wilde in which two friends use the same fictitious persona to escape their otherwise boring lives. Trouble and laughter will ensue! Everybody loves Earnest, but who is he?
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or online at nahsdramaclub.org.

SAT exams will be Oct. 7 at Northampton Area High School. They begin 8 a.m. Those planning to take the test must arrive on time.

Schools will be closed Oct. 9 in observance of Columbus Day. This will be an in-service for teachers.

The middle school’s PTA group will have a meeting 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at the middle school.

Homecoming is Oct. 13. The game and festivities begin 7 p.m. at the high school football stadium.
There is also the Homecoming dance for students Oct. 14. It will be held in the high school’s main gymnasium from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Northampton Area School District will be holding a safety night at the high school Oct. 17. The event will run 6-8 p.m.
The event will feature presentations by several organizations, including the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, Valley Youth House and district personnel. Two 45-minute sessions and five 20-minute sessions will be offered within the two-hour event.
Parents will soon receive information from the school on how to sign up for sessions.
