Crusade 4 Hope is a local charity based in New Tripoli with Joe Madar as the guiding force.

The primary beneficiary of the Sept. 23 Motorcycle and Classic Car Run fundraising was Owen Rex, 16 months, who has cancer, and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Motorcycle run registration was held, as it is every year, at the Bagel Bunch, Routes 309 and 100, New Tripoli.

The end point, with raffles, Chinese auction, music and food took place at the Slatington Skeet Club Grove pavilion.

Kathy Fetherolf and Luke LeMonnier pulled the pork for sandwiches. Danny Fetherolf was the cook.

Lori Serfass said the shirts for the weekend event = Lynnville were donated by Crusade 4 Hope.

Chrystal Mohr said 100 motorcyclists gathered at The Bagel Bunch on Route 309 for a bike ride to the skeet club.

There were five or six classic cars, something she hopes will go increase in future years. Some cars came in with the bike ride.

Also making the ride was Owen in the brush truck from Goodwill Fire Company, Germansville.

Madar said he wanted to thank Owen Rex and his family for attending the Crusade 4 Hope 2017 event.

“Our continued prayers go out to Owen and his family with his fight against cancer,” Madar said. “A big thank you to all the people who came out to our Crusade 4 Hope 2017 event and to our sponsors, Bands and Volunteers who helped make this year’s Crusade 4 Hope event a success. And a special thanks to the Slatington Skeet Club for donating the use of the grove for our event this year.

There were over 100 items, all donated, in a silent auction, and tickets were being sold for a raffle. A lot of the auction prizes were kid oriented.

Even the bands donated their time. They were Beautiful Oblivion, Whisky Hollow and Still Brothers.

The Skeet Club donated the use of its facility.

For anyone age 13 and under the lunch was free. There was a bounce house for the kids and down the hill a little way is a permanent playground.
