Dr. Lawrence Squeri, author of “Better in the Poconos: The Story of Pennsylvania’s Vacation Land,” presents a lecture and book-signing, 1 p.m. Sept. 23, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown.
Vacationing in the Poconos dates to 1829 when the first tourist hotel was built, according to Squeri, Professor Emeritus of history at East Stroudsburg University. His book will be available for purchase, and he will sign copies.
Also, on Sept. 23, the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum is open free of charge, along with other museums nationwide for the 13th annual “Museum Day Live!” Free admission tickets are at Smithsonian.com/museumday.
