Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will host a basket social on Oct. 4. Doors open 5:30 p.m. Social begins at 7 p.m.

Hot dogs, soda, and baked goods will be available.

Union UCC welcomes children to Sunday School from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Children’s church is a unique program during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Three-year-olds through sixth graders start out in the sanctuary for the beginning of the service.

After a message from the pastor or worship leader, children depart to classrooms for songs, prayer, Bible lesson and age appropriate activities.

Children’s church uses a curriculum which includes videos, leaflets and ideas for parents to explore at home during the week.

Youth in eighth grade are invited to join the 2017-18 Union UCC confirmation class.

Union Lutheran Schnecksville, will have a Blessing of the Animals service at 5 p.m. Oct. 1.

All animals are welcome if they are under physical control and are safe to be around others.

If your pet is unable to be present, an article representing him or her such as a photo, collar, or toy will be blessed instead.

The gathering will be outside but will move into the Family Life Center if it rains.

Parkland Community Library has begun its Enjoy the City book fundraiser.

Books include coupons for both local and national stores and restaurants.

Save money while going out to eat and shopping and at the same time providing a benefit to the library.

All profits from the book sales are used to support library services.

The books make great gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
