Sept. 20

The East Penn and Western Lehigh Chambers will host “What is Sustainable Building Envelope Technology?” with a tour of ATAS International, Inc., 6612 Snowdrift Road, Allentown. Sept. 21

The Lutheran Home at Topton will host a seminar on power of attorney and why many older adults may need one, 6 p.m. at the Diakon senior living community, 1 South Home Ave., Topton. Bill Blummer, an elder law attorney from the Leisawitz and Heller Law Firm, will explain all aspects of the power of attorney and detail why most people need one. Herbein’s Fall Fest and Craft Fair fundraiser 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also Sept. 24. Event will include a pumpkin painting contest, craft vendors, kids scavenger hunts, face painting, free seminars, “how to” demonstrations, raffles, food, music, fall mums and decor, cornstalks and more. Event will benefit Life Learn and Play at the South Mall on Lehigh Street. Fall Fest will be held at Herbein’s Garden Center, 4301 Chestnut St., Emmaus.

Salisbury’s German American Partnership Program participants will host a flapjack breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m., at Applebee’s, 1510 Cedar Crest Blvd., in Allentown. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Funds raised will help alleviate the costs of the students to host and travel with this nationally recognized exchange program.

Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company’s ninth annual Community Day, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Green Acres Park. Residents will enjoy fire truck displays, a bake sale, games, face painting, a bounce house, fire safety house, extinguisher training, show by Balloons the Clown and free refreshments. Bring a canned good for the local food bank.

A Pennsylvania German Harvest Supper and Pennsylvania German Humor Program will be held 5:30 p.m. at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown. The family style meal will take place in the Fellowship Hall. The evening program will follow the meal in the chapel of the church and will highlight Pennsylvania German humor, featuring Bill Meck, of Alburtis, who will tell stories and jokes in the Pennsylvania German Dialect and English. Lehigh Valley Fiber Festival at Wildlands Conservancy, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24. The festival is free and open to the public. The event includes artisans showing natural yarns, dyed fabric, quilting, and others. Workshops and live demonstrations, as well as children’s craftsand musical performances are part of the event. Sept. 24

Emmaus Heritage Festival, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the grounds of the Emmaus Historical Society, 218 Main St. There will be live music, crafts, food truck, games, storytelling and displays including The Knauss Homestead, 1803 House, Emmaus Moravian Church, Emmaus Remembrance Garden and more.

The Lehigh Valley K-9 Trials at Thunderhead Farm, 7813 Springhouse Road, New Tripoli. Officers and their police dogs will compete in events, including obstacle courses and narcotics and explosives detection. Sept. 25

The Emmaus Women’s Volleyball Team will host its annual Spike Out Cancer event as they take on Northampton High School at the Emmaus High School Auxiliary Gym. The doors open 4:30 p.m. with the JV game starting 5 p.m. and the varsity game to directly follow. The event includes food and a gift basket raffle. This year 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, Inc.

Sept. 26

Hivel Und Dahl Preservation quarterly meeting 7 p.m will include a demonstration of bread baking in a wood fired stone oven. The meeting will be held at the home of Bill and Carolyn Lagler, 6781 Ridge Road, Zionsville. Enjoy freshly baked, warm bread after the meeting. All are welcome.

Flapjacks fundraiser at Applebees in Trexlertown 8 to 10 a.m. to benefit The Knauss Homestead. There is a cost. Officers, board of directors and Homestead members will serve.

Members of the Lehigh Valley and surrounding community are invited to an inspirational day of music, comedy and art at the second annual RockSoberFest at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie. The event is co-sponsored by Livengrin Foundation and other area treatment providers and seeks to end the stigma of addiction by celebrating the contributions of people in long-term recovery. The event is free, rain or shine, and will be held 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be food, music, comedy and children’s activities. Entertainment includes local musicians Tim Harakal, Hydraulic Lime, Wycked Sober and stand-up comedy from nationally-known comedienne Liz Russo. Winners of the scavenger hunt will have a chance to win prizes donated by area businesses including a Wegman’s gift card basket and a signed lithograph of Antonio Brown donated by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
