LV Jr. Bassmasters excel at quad

The Lehigh Valley Junior Bassmasters sent a large contingent of anglers to the recent four-state quad competition in Elk Neck State Park in Maryland.

The event features 48 two-man teams of anglers with over 35 of them from Pennsylvania, which traditionally features some of the most succefull fishermen in the field at this annual event, which also includes Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware anglers.

Several members of the Lehigh Junior Bassmasters had success at the annual event, which was held in early July.

Taking first place overall were Zach Tamandl (Parkland) and James Soldrige (Parkland).

Earning fifth place in PA and ninth in the quad was the team of Jake Snyder (Parkland) and Cooper Rosen (Parkland). Kole Pokrivsak (Nazareth) and Jake Menio (Bath) finished in the next spot at 10th overall and sixth in the state. Taking the eight in PA and 13 overall was the team of Max Moses (Parkland) and Jeremy Cruz (Parkland). Cruz and Moses had the highest per-pound fish average of the tournament.

Finishing 11th in the state and 16th overall were Ryan Fliszar (Bethlehem) and Jared Kemmerer (Bath), while Paul Reily (Hellertown) and Daniel Morris (Easton) finished in 13th place in PA and 18th at the quad. Nathan Sanno (Bath) and Quinten Van Fossen garnered 19th in the state and 28th overall. Alex Snyder (Nazareth) and Jacob Heitzer (Salisbury) came in 21st place in PA and 31st overall.

Lehigh Valley Junior Bassmasters has had one of it’s teams win the event for each of the past three years. Parkland alum Matt Dolak was one of those champions.

Lehigh Valley Hawg Hunters and several other adult fishing clubs in Lehigh and Bucks counties donate time and boats for the tournament. Lehigh Valley Hawg Hunter. The anglers have been guided by retiring head coach Lynn Post, who will succeeded by Evan Rehrig. Club Treasurer Jim Pokrivsak is also instrumental to the success of the program.

The club includes fishermen from Easton, Lehighton, Nazareth, Northampton, Parkland and Philadelphia high schools.

This year, Parkland had seven anglers on the team of 30.
