Scott Stoneback’s The Media People, based in Alburtis, has been in the documentary film and video business for more than 40 years.

He continues documenting history. And his family continues careers in the media.

Their son, Ellis, is video editor for the reality TV show, “Say Yes To The Dress,” seen on The Learning Channel.

Their son, Robert, twin brother of Ellis, is managing editor, Ophthalmology Management magazine. Robert had written for East Penn Press.

The Media People has done some 2,000 productions, receiving 60 national and international awards. Stoneback began in the documentary business in 1975. His documentaries include those on Ardath Rodale, the 100th anniversary of Dorney Park, 100th anniversary of Buckeye Pipeline, and 30 years of profiles of recipients of Allentown Arts Commission Arts Ovation awards, copies of which are archived at Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum.

“We all live history every day. And, unless we document it and record it with the sources that have lived it, we cannot be sure it will be an accurate portrayal for future generations,” Stoneback says.

Stoneback does recruitment pieces for Muhlenberg College Department of Theatre and Dance, and records productions and events of Civic Theatre of Allentown.

Scott Stoneback and Francee Fuller met at Temple University. They were enrolled in the School of Communications. Her major was film and journalism. His major was film and broadcast TV. “I met her in my first class, journalism, at 8 a.m. in the morning.” That was 48 years ago. They live in Alburtis, on “The Patch,” setting for the popular column published in the Press, “From My Kitchen Window,” by his mother, Jean Stoneback.

Stoneback has produced oral history documentaries for residents of Emmaus, Macungie and Alburtis. He has put some 200 persons before the camera. “I had a lot of my mother on tape. She had so many stories. I wanted to make sure I got her while she was still here.”

His recent video projects include “A Memory Forever,” a video of remembrances done for families that can be shown at memorial services, and “The History Of Macungie Memorial Park.”

The 70th Weaver Reunion, the 40th year in Alburtis, will be held at “The Patch.” “This year, we’re going to bring it to an end. That’s a fair run, 40 years,” Stoneback says.

John Weaver, who headed organ departments at The Juilliard School and Curtis Institute of Music, will travel from Vermont. “I have to have the piano tuned. He has perfect pitch,” says Stoneback.
