Ole 91st:The Oak Ridge Boys, above, kicks off Easton’s State Theatre Center for the Art’s 91st season, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of country music hits, a No. 1 Pop smash (“Elvira”) and numerous Grammy and other awards. The Country Music Hall of Fame quartet lineup, formed in 1973, includes William Lee Golden, Duane Allen, Richard Sterban and Joe Bonsall. The group released its first-ever live hits album, “Boys Night Out,” in April 2014, and a duet with Merle Haggard for its “Rock of Ages” hymns and Gospel favorites album in 2015. Thursday on Friday:The Last Thursday Band, above, begins the fall “Jazz Upstairs” series, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8, Community Room, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown. The jazz quartet is a virtuoso ensemble performing classic and contemporary jazz, with hints of pop, rock and blues. The band is named after its Thursday night concerts at the Hotel Bethlehem. The band recorded a live CD at the Deer Head Inn, Shawnee-On-Delaware. The lineup is Vicki Doney, vocals; Lou Czechowski, piano; Brian Bortz, bass, and Daniel Gonzalez, drums. Big Cheese:Tommy Womack, above, of the group, Government Cheese, performs at 8 p.m. Sept. 9, Godfrey Daniels, Bethlehem. Singer-songwriter, author, humorist and Kentucky native Tommy Womack got his start in 1985 to 1992 with Bowling Green-based Government Cheese (immortalized in Tommy’s Womack’s book, “Cheese Chronicles”). Since 1998, Womack has released seven solo albums, the latest being the brand-new “Namaste.” Womack is the author of a comic Civil War novella, “The Lavender Boys & Elsie,” and has written for magazines, including the Oxford American.
