NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP: Laurys Station having Community Day on Sept. 16

The seventh annual Laurys Station Community Day begins 3 p.m. Sept. 16 and culminate with fireworks in the evening.

Festivities take place at the Laurys Station Fire Company and North Whitehall Township athletic fields, 5314 Egypt Road.

Features include a variety of food, vendors, games, car show, bake sale, historical displays, Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack 144 encampment, MS Walking Warriors team basket raffle, chili cook off, and photo contest.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will accept blood donations 3-7 p.m.

Country View Farm will be set up with a pig roast and potatoes.

There’s something for everyone at this festive day organized by St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station.

Admission is free. Bring along a canned good donation for the Jordan Lutheran Church Food Pantry.

Musical entertainment by Woodside Avenue from 5 p.m. until the fireworks begin.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will host a chicken barbecue from 4-6:30 p.m. Sept. 9

Eat in or take out will be available. Although advance reservations are recommended, tickets will be available at the door.

On Sept. 10, St. John’s will have Rally Day as the new Christian education year begins with Sunday School at 9 a.m. and the worship service at 10:15 a.m.

Celebration of Harvest Home will be Sept. 17.

The Keenagers seniors group will meet 1 p.m. Sept. 19.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will have a book fest 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 10,

The public is invited to come, browse and select free books to take home.

The church will also have a Reformation 500 book store where people can purchase publications relating to the Reformation and its 500th anniversary this year.

Sunday School resumes at Union Lutheran 10:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m. Sept. 10 with classes for all ages.

The youth group meets during this time. Worship service begins 9 a.m.
