Nine injured in 2-vehicle crash

Three adults and six children were injured after a 2014 Ford Fusion struck their 2015 Chevrolet Traverse 1:45 p.m. Sept. 4 on I-78, Upper Macungie Township.

According to State Police Troop M Fogelsville, the car driven by Joseph Jeffrey Farese, 21, of Riegelsville, left its lane of travel and side swiped the SUV driven by Camelo Juarez-Pena, 46, of Bayonne, N.J.

The SUV then hit a metal guardrail causing extensive damage.

Police say one occupant in the SUV was partially ejected.

All occupants in the SUV, Camelo Juarez-Pena and passengers, three females ages 34, 20 and 13; two 16-year-old males, a 14-year-old male and two 10-year-old males, all from Bayonne, were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, with serious injuries.

Juarez-Pena and his 34-year-old female passenger were wearing seat belts, police say.

According to police, the juveniles and the 20-year-old female were not wearing seat belts.

Farese, who was wearing his seat belt was uninjured, police say.

Fogelsville Fire Department, Cetronia Ambulance Corps and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office assisted at the scene.
